Each officer is a member of the DBOA Executive Board of Directors and has voting privileges (excluding the Past President). Officers will serve from April 1, 2008 - March 31, 2010.

CARL RICHARDSON
President

Carl is a veteran of the game of basketball. In addition to officiating for 24 years, he also coached high school and AAU for many years. Hence, the nickname "Coach Rich". Carl has served in several capacities during his 18 years with the DBOA to include Division 5 Representative, Division 4 Representative, At-Large Representative (2004 - 2008). He served as Vice President prior to Fred Knight's resignation as President. Effective Nov 1, 2008, Carl assumed the role of President.
Carl is the Sports Coordinator for the City of Dallas, Parks & Recreation. In addition to officiating basketball, Carl enjoys martial arts and weapons exploration in his spare time.
Carl is married to his wife of 40 years, Gail. They have 4 children -- Jerald, Derrick, Carl Jr., and Courtney.

ALJAY BETTIS III

It was 25 years ago that Aljay began his officiating career in the Lake Erie Chapter of his hometown Cleveland, Ohio. He has dedicated the last 21 of those years to the DBOA serving as Vice President (2000 - 2004, 2008 - current), Assistant Camp Director (2000 - 2003), Camp Director (2004), Evaluation Committee Chair ( 2004 - 2006), and member of Software Implementation Committee (2002 - 2005), and New Officials Coordinator. He has been selected to work the Girls Regionals 3 times and the THSCA All-Star Games (2008).
Aljay has been an educator for 22 years, 18 years in alternative education. He currently serves as Department Chair of Social Studies at Turning Point High School in Arlington ISD. A member of the United Educators Association, Aljay is also a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
When he's not spending time with Roxie, his wife of 7 years, Aljay enjoys reading, listening to music, and running.

DONNA SIMPSON
Recording Secretary

Donna has been officiating for 28 years. For the past 19 years, she has been a dedicated member of the DBOA. The Women's Representative position was created largely in part due to her passion for the advancement of qualified women in officiating. As a former Women's Representative, Donna still works hard as an advocate for women in officiating. She currently serves as the Recording Secretary and directs the Women's Developmental Camp that was traditionally held at Skyline High School. Her list of accomplishments include working the Girls 5A Regionals (2007) and 4A Regionals (2006), and the THSCA Girls All Star Game (2004).
Donna has been an educator in her hometown of Waxahachie for 19 years. She has one son, Sean. When she is not taking care of DBOA business, she enjoys scuba diving. |

HARRY HUNTER
Treasurer

Harry has been officiating for 20 years, 10 years with the DBOA. He is currently serving his second term as DBOA Treasurer. He has worked in the TAPPS Regionals.
Harry has worked in the aerospace industry for 20 years. He is currently a Project Manager for Tek Sys / Bell Hellicopter. An IT professional for 29 years, Harry is a member of the National Association of Computer Sciences.
Away from officiating, Harry's interests include collecting coins and antiques. A Vietnam vet, he enjoys sharing stories about his experiences as a H-1 M-60 Gunner and Air Force MP. Harry and his wife Leisa have been married for 8 years. They have 5 children and 6 grandchildren.

MIKE SLATON
TASO District 10 Director

Mike has been a DBOA official for 10 years, 21 years total. A family and business man, he officiated for 12 years and took some time off to coach and watch his sons play sports, and to start his own business. In January 2007, Mike was appointed as TASO District 10 Representative after the position was vacated by Barry Caponi's election as TASO-Basketball President-Elect. Mike was subsequently elected to remain as DBOA's voice in TASO.
Mike has been in the financial services industry for 26 years. He owns Slaton Financial Services which specializes in bookkeeping, accounting, taxes, & investment. Mike's professional affiliations include National Accountants Association and Rotary Club, where he served as Past President (Mesquite) and 3-term Assistant Governor (District 5810).
A deacon at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas, Mike enjoys golfing and spending time with his family. He and Vicki, his wife of 39 years, have two sons, Bryan (Amy) and Kevin (Anna). They have twin grandsons, Cade and Dillon.

PERRY DANIELS
Past President

Perry has been involved with basketball officiating and the sport of bowling for nearly 31 years, and has proven his strong leadership in both. He was elected as President for two terms (2004 - 2008), and currently serves as Past President and as Rules Interpreter.
Perry retired after 31 years of service to IBM Corporation and had owned his own service industry business for five years. As a current Field Agent for the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office, Perry made several appearances on A&E network's "First 48" television show.
Perry is also a member of The National Bowling Association, where he has held TNBA leadership positions including National President.
He bowls in one USBC league and is an avid golfer.
Perry and his wife of 25 years, Linda, have four children and nine grandchildren. |

LAWRENCE DANIELS
Division 2 Representative

A Philadelphia native, Lawrence has been officiating for 15 years, 13 years in the DBOA. Prior to his current assignment as Division 2 Representative, he served as Division 3 Representative and Approved Division Representative. Lawrence was selected to work the 4A TAPPS Regionals (2007 - 2008).
For 28 years, Lawrence has been involved in the audio/visual (A/V) industry. He currently works as a freelance A/V Technician for JCPenney and manages the A/V services and equipment used for training and education in the DBOA.
Lawrence is married to Janet, his wife of 26 years, and has 2 children, Toddric and Toyia. A kid at heart, his interests include comic books, video games, and computers.

SHON DIXON PENDLETON
Division 3 Representative

Shon has been officiating for 6 years with the DBOA, where she has been active in leadership for 5 of those years. Shon served as the Host Chairperson for the TASO Basketball State Meeting (2005), Women's Representative and Assistant Camp Director (2006 - 2007), and Division 4 Representative (2007 - 2009). She also designed the new DBOA website. Currently, she co-manages the website and serves as Division 3 Representative.
With a foundation in physics research and development (R&D), Shon has worked in operations, business, and financial analysis for most of her career. She currently works as a Demand Planning Analyst with Dr Pepper Snapple Group. She also does freelance website design and desktop publishing.
A Louisiana gal, Shon's interests beyond officiating include cooking, live music, healthy living, playing tennis and golf, and spending time with family. Shon and her husband Byron were recently married in September of 2009.

ANTOINE SPEARMAN

Antoine joined the DBOA in 2006 after relocating from his hometown of Kansas City, KS. He immediately jumped into a leadership role being elected as the Division 5 Representative (2007 - 2009), and subsequently elected to lead Division 4, as well.
Antoine is known for his cool, calm, and collected personality. Professionally, this works well for him too in the customer service industry, where he's currently employed as an Import-Export Liason for Sony Ericcson.
Antoine's interests include sports, reading, and jogging. He has 2 teenage sons, Tommy and Antoine II. |

JERELL DANIELS

Jerell has dedicated 35 years of service to the DBOA. During this time, he has worked several regional and playoff games. Jerell is recognized as working behind the scenes on many DBOA endeavors. For this very reason, he was appointed as At-Large Division Representative when the position was vacated by Carl Richardson's election as Vice President.
Whether it be helping young officials improve their skills or assisting the homeless, Jerell can always be seen helping others. For the past 10 years, he has worked as a Caseworker for Dallas County.
In his spare time, Jerell enjoys sports. He has one daughter, Nicole, and one granddaughter, Na'Koria.

Women's Representative
The Women's Representative is appointed by the President.

SUSAN HUNTER
Women's Representative |

For 23 years, Susan has been the consummate professional both on and off the court. She has been a member of the DBOA for 13 years. Her professionalism, respectable character, and sound judgment lend to her current appointment as the Women's Representative. An accomplished official, Susan has been selected to work the Girls State Finals 3 times and Girls State Regionals 15 times.
Susan has worked in the fitness industry for 15 years and is currently a Master Trainer at 24 Hour Fitness. She is certified as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) working with clients who suffer from musculoskeletal impairments, imbalances, or post-rehabilitation concerns. Susan's professional affiliations include the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
Intrigued by history, Susan's interests include going to the theater and history museums.

GRADY DALE

A native of Seminole in west Texas, Grady has been officiating for 19 years, 13 years with the DBOA. He served as Assistant Assignment Secretary (2004 - 2006) prior to his current appointment as Assignment Secretary (2006 - present). In addition to working the Boys Regionals (2006 - 2007), he has also worked the National Bible College Tournament.
Grady has worked in the electric delivery industry for 15 years. He is currently an employee of Oncor as a member of its Large Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Relationship Management team. He has also served as the Diversity Committee Chairperson.
Grady has 4 children -- Kwamane, K'ondrenae, Kieonna, and Keondre'. In addition to officiating basketball and football, Grady enjoys music and fishing.

WINFRED GEORGE
Assistant Assignment Secretary

Winfred has been an official with the DBOA for 19 years. Prior to his appointment as Assistant Assignment Secretary, Winfred also served as a Division Representative. He has worked 2 Girls Regionals and 2 Boys Regionals. Winfred also officiates in collegiate and professional leagues to include NCAA, USBL, ABA, WBA, and PBL.
An automotive specialist, Winfred has been in the industry for 31 years. He owns WBS Imports in Mesquite, specializing in Mercedes Benz repair and restoration.
Anyone that knows Winfred is familiar with his mantra of taking care of business first. He and his wife of 31 years, Alesia, have two children, Alchinese and Alexis. They have one grandchild, Krisjin. A native of east Texas (Marshall), Winfred's hobbies include hunting and fishing.

EARL MILNER
Chairperson, Public Relations Committee

Earl has been officiating for 21 years, 18 years dedicated to the DBOA. During his time with the DBOA, Earl previously served as Division 2 Representative, Division 3 Representative, Division 4 Representative, and a member of the Election Committee. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the recently-formed Public Relations Committee.
With 13 years experience in real estate, Earl works as an Agent for Keller Williams Realty in his hometown of Rockwall. He also is a member of the Rockwall ISD District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC).
Earl has been a Starter for the UIL Track & Field Championships for the past 5 years. He is married to Buffy, his wife of 26 years. They have 2 children, Angela and Matt, and 2 grandchildren, Zoe and London. In his spare time, Earl enjoys farming.

ANTHONY SMALL
Chairperson, Evaluation Committee

A native of Shreveport, LA, Anthony has dedicated 20 years of officiating to the DBOA. His commitment to the chapter is evident: he currently serves in two appointed positions: 1.) Co-Director of DBOA Camps, and 2.) Chairman of the Proficiency Evaluation Committee, which assesses and determines officials' proficiency levels. Anthony was selected to officiate the Boys State Finals (2008) and Girls/Boys State Regionals several times.
A 26-year veteran in the criminal justice system, Anthony works for Dallas County Youth Village as a Master Trainer / Supervisor. His professional affiliations include the Black Juvenile Justice Professionals and the Dallas Volleyball Officials Association.
Anthony is passionate about his work as a trainer both on and off the court: he finds it rewarding when he can watch others grow as a result of his knowledge sharing. Anthony is married to Rose, his wife of 19 years, and has 2 adult children, Anthony II and Torrie Willis. In his spare time, he enjoys deejaying, listening to music, and watching movies.

DARWIN ISHAM

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Darwin has been officiating for 24 years, 20 years in the DBOA. As an independent licensed insurance agent since 2002, he serves as the DBOA's first Insurance Committee Chairperson.
Darwin has worked in the adult beverage industry for 12 years, currently as an Account Representative for Glazer's Distributors. He also co-chairs the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Board.
Darwin is an avid Chicago sports fan and enjoys photography. He is married to Shelia, his wife of 23 years. Darwin has 3 adult children -- Justin, Aurelia, and Aaron -- and one grandchild, Jaydon.

MASON MILLER

Dallas native Mason begin his officiating career at University of Texas at Austin as an intramural offficial. He has been officiating for a total of 22 years, 15 with the DBOA. Mason currently chairs the Audit Committee which is tasked with auditing the Treasurer’s account and to report its findings.
For the past 14 years, Mason has worked in the finance industry specializing in audit and compliance. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Greenbelt trained in Six Sigma, which is a Quality Improvement methodology structured to reduce product or service failure rates to a negligible level. Mason is currently employed at Nortel.
In his spare time, Mason enjoys golfing and traveling. He and his family reside in Garland.

A native of Fort Myers, FL, David has been an official with the DBOA for 11 years. For the past 4 years, he has served as the DBOA Website Administrator.
David has been in the tax software and services industry for 25 years. He currently works as a Software Architect for Thomson Corporation.
David always has a book with him and feels comfortable reading it whereever he is (including traffic lights). In addition to reading, he also enjoys audio/video recording and editing. David and his wife Carol Ann have been married for 34 years. They have 3 children -- Aaron, Sarah, and Michele. |

MARVIN TIMMONS
Zebra-Ware Administrator

Marvin has been officiating for 15 years, 13 years in the DBOA. He has been the System Administrator for the DBOA's online scheduling system, Zebra-Ware, since 2004. Marvin has also served as an Approved Division Representative. He was selected to work the Houston Regionals (2007 - 2008).
A graduate of EDS System Engineer Development Program, Marvin has been in the information technology (IT) industry for 20 years. He is a computer consultant with Jack Henry and Associates, and is professionally affiliated with the Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA).
A native of Lewes, Delaware, Marvin is the youngest of 11 siblings and has 15 great nieces and nephews. In his spare time, he enjoys model cars, music, and talking.
